Children do not ask to be born into poverty. Young mothers do not hope to be unemployed. Local businesses and shopkeepers open each day despite the possibility of losing their profits to a thief. Such stresses eat away at a person’s capacity to have faith in their ability to overcome such obstacles, which is why the UACDC is tireless in our efforts to replace such realities with a belief that we can come together to change a community for the better.

Because ordinary citizens, institutions, civic leaders, and government officials and agencies believed that positive change begins right here at home, a new way of addressing a community’s ills was born. Together, we set the standard for a new way to defeat despair and are turning it into a model program that other challenged communities throughout North America want to follow. With your help, we can continue to effect positive change at home, and create a ripple that will be felt thousands of miles from here.

We believe that at-risk children deserve a carefree childhood and the best education, and that their parents should have the training and the self-esteem to provide a healthy, happy home for those children.
